Sustainable Lifestyles Program
Breast cancer survivors and thrivers, particularly mothers, often face physical, mental, and emotional needs at the conclusion of active treatment. The stressors associated with their diagnosis, treatment, and maintenance medications often impact them and their children. There is a need for a positive sustained support system where the mothers and their children can experience a sense of belonging, and a safe place to reconnect with their children while creating beautiful memories. Through our small, local, intimate organization, Sustainable Lifestyles Program addresses the need for social support for both the diagnosed woman and her children in our community.
Services
In-Person Sessions: Monthly engagement sessions with an alternating focus on mom and mom with her children. (One month will be a mothers event and the next will be an event with the mothers and their children.) A network of support among families is built as common experiences are shared.
Group Wellness Accountability System: Events that may not be otherwise be accessible to survivors, will support the need for physical activity, goal setting, and emotional and mental health ideas lead by dynamic professional facilitators. The program will integrate expert resources such as registered dietitian nutritionists, licensed mental health therapists, and certified fitness instructors to deliver comprehensive guidance tailored to each participant’s individual needs.
Participants are encouraged to adopt and incorporate wellness suggestions learned at each event.
Monthly incentives and rewards including wellness giveaways and gift cards motivate participation and positive growth.
